A rebrand and overhaul of one of the most wholesome museum in the world* - the Portland Children's Museum. For over 75 years, the PCM and Opal School encouraged kids and parents of all ages to think, create, and build through various outlets and inspiration.
This is an homage to them.
The wordmark is set in a warm tone using a 'friendly' typeface and supported by lively illustrated elements.
The color palette is inspired by the colors seen around the city itself - green moss and trees, pinks, reds, and maroons from the rose garden, and a bright blue from Portland's sunniest days. These colors are also complimentary in various ways as well as eludes to an optimistic and playful feeling.
The illustrated elements are inspired by doodles and drawings such as stars, lines, shapes, and familiar feelings like a hug or a pencil to encourage the ideas creativity, fun, and experiments.
Other supporting graphics could be summer camp initiatives, postcards, emails, social posts that use the illustrated elements, colors, and other playful design touches to emphasize the brand voice and museum mission.
